Richard S. Walsh, 78, died on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home in Savannah, GA. Dick was born in New York City on January 19, 1930. He was the son of Richard & Catherine Leahy Walsh. Dick graduated from All Hallows H.S. and Fordham College. After service in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Fordham Law School.
Concurrent with night law school he started a 38 year career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an attorney in the Law Department and as an executive in the Group Department retiring in 1994 as a Senior Vice President.
Dick and his wife June enjoyed living at Skidaway Island since 1995 and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Over the years he volunteered at Hesse School, The Social Apostolate, The Mediation Center and as a tennis umpire. He was a communicant at St. James Catholic Church. May he rest in peace.
Survivors: His wife of 45 years, Anita June Sullivan. Children: Denise McMonagle Robert of Davenport, Iowa; Karen Mosier Carl of Fredonia, NY; and Richard D. Walsh Maureen of Haddonfield, NJ. Grandchildren: Patrick & Grace McMonagle; Katie & Chris Anne Mosier; and Shannon & Molly Walsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Helen Williams; Msgr. James Walsh; Margaret Crimmins; and Mary Chartrand.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM Thursday June 5, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Mark Ross Celebrating. Visitation one hour before Mass at St. James. Memorial service and interment to follow on June 14, 2008 in New Rochelle, NY.
